Religious and Cultural Observances
- AACPS will operate on a normalschedule on the following days ofmajor religious or cultural observance:•October 31,2024: Diwali(No Moon Day)•January 29: Lunar New Year•June 17, 2025: Eid al-AdhaJewish and Muslim religiousobservance dates begin at sundownon the evening prior to the datesnoted and conclude at sundownthe next evening.
- Tests & ExaminationsAACPS tests and examinations(including mandated tests andassessments) shall not be scheduledon any of the religious observancesnoted in this calendar. Tests andexaminations for a grade will notbe administered on the schoolday following any of the religiousobservances noted in this calendar,unless the observance concludes ona Friday or Saturday night. Similarly,AACPS tests and examinations(including mandated tests andassessments) for Evening High Schoolstudents shall also not be scheduledon the evening before or the day ofevening of a religious observance.
- School Sponsored Activitiesfor Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Eidal-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha, no athletics orother school-sponsored extracurricularactivities will take place after sundownon the day before the observance orbefore sundown on the first day of amulti-day religious observance.
- Student AbsencesStudents absent from school due to areligious or cultural observance notedon this calendar will be allowed theoption to make up work missed due tothat absence. Such absence shall notaffect a student's eligibility for perfectattendance recognition.
